Call for Submissions: Provocation

Exhibition Details

July 6th to August 10th 2024, Salt Spring Island, BC.

We are seeking artwork that delves into the complexities of our digital age, with the specific goal of provoking thought and dialogue about how recent technological advancements are impacting our expectations of privacy, free speech, security, and identity.

Some of the technical advancements that are radically reshaping our lives include generative AI, facial recognition software, voice cloning, social media, data collection, meta-analysis, and more.

Through Provocation, our intention is to question the pervasive nature of this technology and offer artistic interpretations for our social reflection.

Provocation is an experimental series of exhibitions initiated by a local philanthropist in order to bring artists and audiences together and provoke conversations on what it means to live in our world today. The exhibitions are free, open to the public, and hosted in a private event space. The exhibitions will include artist talks, performances, and community engagements.
